Phoenix
Welcome to Phoenix Class!
We are Year 3 and Year 4 and we are now well on our way with our primary school journey. You will find our classroom at the front of the school in what was the old school hall. In Phoenix Class we enjoy building and developing our friendships and working on skills such as confidence, independence and co-operation.
We continue with our progress in Reading, Writing and Maths as well as our topical learning. During our time in Phoenix Class, we will have the opportunity for the first time to partake in violin lessons once weekly as well as swimming lessons at the Olympiad in the Spring Terms. French lessons will also be explored for the first time. We begin our language journey by learning colours, numbers and simple greetings through songs and games; we will quickly acquire new vocabulary and French phrases!
We will continue to delve into topics that fire the imagination and that stay in our memories. Science topics such as state of matter, magnetic forces and digestion in human and animals. We will explore Anglo-Saxons in History and in Geography fieldwork studies. Topics such as Vikings, Extreme Survivors and Iron age will be explored more fully.
Reading habits can often change in Phoenix Class as we shift from ‘learning to read’ to ‘reading to learn’. Often without realising, children develop a favourite author or genre and choose books that they can become lost in.
