Safeguarding the welfare and well-being of our pupils, and protecting them from harm is our prime concern at Langley Fitzurse C of E Primary School.

Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with his/her parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child’s welfare.

We actively support the Government’s Prevent Agenda to counter radicalism and extremism. 

Safeguarding encompasses issues such as child protection, pupil health and safety, online safety, bullying/cyber-bullying, appropriate medical provision, drugs and substance misuse. These areas have specific policies and guidance, which can be found on this page and our policies page.

Encompass

ENCOMPASS is the reporting to schools, by the next school day, when a child or young person has been affected by a domestic incident. This is an initiative that has been developed to support children and young people and their families.

ENCOMPASS ensures that a member of the school staff, known as a Key Adult, is shared the information in confidence, while ensuring that the school is able to make provision for possible difficulties experienced by children, or their families, who have been involved in, affected or exposed to a domestic abuse incident.

The Key Adult at this school is Mrs Karen Winterburn.

This initiative allows us to offer the best support possible to all our pupils and we believe this is an extremely beneficial for all those involved.

Prevent

As part of Langley Fitzurse’s commitment to safeguarding and child protection we fully support the government’s Prevent Strategy, and prevent children from being radicalised.

The Prevent Strategy is a government strategy designed to stop people becoming terrorists, supporting terrorism, fundamentalism or extremist behaviours.

The NSPCC helpline provides help and support to thousands of parents, professionals and families. 

Year on year, the number of calls and online contacts is increasing and helping to protect more children.

The NSPCC helpline is a place adults can contact by phone or online to get advice or share their concerns about a child, anonymously if they wish. It’s staffed by professional practitioners with backgrounds in jobs like teaching, healthcare and social work, who know how to spot the signs of abuse and what to do to help.
Parents and carers often have lots of questions, such as what is the right age to leave a child home alone, what to do about bullying or how to keep their children safe online.

Whatever the issue, we’re here 24/7 to keep children safe. Professionals such as teachers and doctors also contact us for information and guidance. Our helpline staff will provide expert advice and support.
