Chameleon
Welcome to Chameleon class!
Our happy classroom is in the newer side of the school, and is full of excellent discussion and brilliant ideas. We work incredibly hard to be the best learners and people we can be, but also make sure we leave room for a lot of fun! By the time they reach Years 4, 5 and 6, the children are experts on life at Langley Fitzurse and are a real team. We focus on building initiative, integrity and resilience in preparation for their next stage of schooling.
In Chameleon. many of the children truly love reading and enjoy studying texts like Beowolf adapted by Michael Morpurgo and Wolf Brother by Michelle Paver in depth. We love applying our skills as readers into our own writing, creating atmosphere and choosing vocabulary carefully. In R.E, the children develop their skills to speak respectfully and to understand difference through exploring and debating some challenging questions together. If you want to know more about our learning, ask a Chameleon child who will be happy to tell you all about it!
During their time in Chameleon class, the years 5 and 6 children have lots of exciting opportunities and challenges: representing the school at sports tournaments, getting up on stage to sing and dance and becoming a buddy to our friends in Hercules class. (Click here to find out more about buddies). Year 6 children love to take on extra roles and responsibilities across the school and wear their special uniform (their shirt and tie) with pride.
We work closely with our local secondary schools who offer transition visits across Year 5 and 6 so that the children feel comfortable and ready for their move to Year 7. As a staff team, we love that the children often come back to visit and update us on how well they are doing!
